Suryachaur, situated at an altitude of 1925 meter in the Northern part of Kathmandu valley, is the short and easy hike of 10 kilometers (2-3) hours. Suryachaur is an ideal place with some flat terrains from where one can get to see the whole Thangshing Valley and the great mountain views like Ganesh Himal, Langtang Range, Mt. Machapuchare, Mt. Gaurishankar, Godatape, Rauchuli and other numerous Himalayas.

Distance: Distance between Kathmandu and Kakani is 12 KM (kilometers) It takes 1:30 hours by local vehicles: journey from Kathmandu goes up a beautiful panoramic view on hills, Northewest from Kathmandu takes 1:30hrs by local vehicle in the average drive of 60km/hr. Kakani is in the elevation of 2073m, just off the road to Trisuli Bazaa/. Once in Kakani, you will enjoy the magnificent view of the Himalayan ranges. The wonderful sunrise and sunset have been attracting many people to spend nights at Kakani just for sight, contemplation Kakani is a major gateway for hiking and mountain biking routes in neighbouring Shivapuri National Park.
Suryachaur: Decent valley views of Himalaya you can take a breath taking view of high snow-capped mountains namely Langtang 7,234 m (23,734 ft) and Ganesh Himal 7,422 (24,350 ft). Manaslu, Lamjung Himal and Annapurna Himalayas from Surachaur is an elevation of 1929 m. From a series of high points along the ridge, there are magnificent views of the Himalayan skyline stretching all the way from Annapurna to Everest, via Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Gauri Shankar, Dorje Lekpa and Shishapangma Himalayas.
