Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is one of the easier treks in the Annapurna region. The maximum altitude you will reach in this trek is merely 3210 meters in Poon Hilltop.

The average hiking time per day is close to 5 hours. The only part when the trek might feel difficult is when you take a climb up the 3500 stairs in Ulleri. There are a few other uphills and downhills during this trek but they are not too difficult. 

So you can complete this trek even without a lot of preparation. However, moderate exercising for a few weeks prior to coming here will make this trek a lot easier than without exercising.

Detail Itinerary

  • Day 1Kathmandu- Pokhara- Tikhedhunga (1500m) -Ulleri
    Our first day has a choice to Pokhara that could be by flights (23 minutes to 30 minutes) or by tourist bus to Pokhara takes 6-7 hours after your quick breakfast at your hotel in Kathmandu. But the tourist bus will stop for breakfast after one an hour or in 2 hours. Of course, you will stop for lunch along the way. The journey by bus covers 200 kilometers from Kathmandu to Pokhara near lakeside.
    The bus ride let you observe beautiful, scenic hills that lie quite close to Trisuli and Marsyangdi River. The bus ride also offers on your first sights of Ganesh Himal and the Manaslu peaks as well Mugling bazaar. Similarly, the plane gives you full of enjoying with terrace field, hills, tiny houses, and Mountain of Annapurna.
    Our journey will continue to the Nayapul by car/taxi/jeep and take our jeep to tirkhedunga for the overnight. Of course, your evening will be with local people and local food with local people and guide/porter.
  • Day 2 Day 2: Tikhedhunga - Ghorepani/Ghodepani (2860m)
    If you are not staying in Ulleri, Today, Hiking will be bit Challenging trip than most of all which takes you almost 3200 steps/stairs trek to Ulleri village after your breakfast. From the Ulleri, the trails go winding turn through the thick forest of ACAP preserved and uphill and downhill. And you fill a bit of cold wind may be it blows as you trek to Ghorepani or Ghodepani.
    This is because of a change in altitude and makes the temperature of the places cooler in comparison. That may feel a bit of thin air in the altitude but no worries there is a lot of vegetation and enough oxygen. sometimes you can some mammals, birds, and reptiles all well as various kinds of birds where you will fell this is real wilderness treks in Nepal in the rhododendron dominated forest. You can easily observe the change of vegetation and encounter with plenty of rhododendron trees along the trek to Ghorepani poon hill. Ghorepani is popular as a home of rhododendron forest. Trekking to Ghorepani (2860 meters) takes an about 6-7 hours from tirkhedunga Overnight at the lodge and enjoy with locals and mountains views throughout the green valley.
  • Day 3Ghorepani (2860m)-Tadapani (2700m)
    On this day, you will hike to Poon Hill (3,190m) in the morning to experience one of the best views of the sunrise. The sun in Poon Hill rises over massive peaks like Dhaulagiri, Annapurna massif, Manaslu, Nilgiri etc. After enjoying the views in Poon Hill, you will get back to your hotel Ghorepani. After breakfast, you will head out to Tadapani (2700 meters).
    The initial trail Ghorepani from leads you to a ridge as you walk through rhododendron forests. This ridge is also known as the second Poon Hill. The views of mountains from this ridge are also eye-catching. The trail from here narrows as you trek through temperate forests. A few steep uphills will take you to Birethanti, where you can have your lunch. The trek resumes from Birethanti as you walk past rhododendron forests and small streams before reaching Tadapani(2630 meters).
    A rich forest made up of Rhododendron, Magnolia and Oaks surround Tadapani. Tadapani is another place in this trek that offers you grand views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre (fishtail). The trek from Ghorepani to Tadapani (including the hike to Poon Hill), is close to 6 hours in length.
  • Day 4Tadapani (2700m)-Ghandruk Village (1980m)-Pokhara-Kathmandu
    Today, you will have a wonderful breakfast with the beautiful sunrise view on the Machhapuchhre (fishtail), Gangapurna, Hiuchuli, Annapurna south and Lamjung Himalaya ranges. After morning meal, trek down to the largest Gurung village in the Annapurna region- the village of Ghandruk where deep ACAP forests are. Trekking to Ghandruk takes 2/3 hours and stop for some snacks or lunch, while you are waiting for your lunch or after the meal, you will explore beautiful Gandruk village, their unique Gurung traditional museum and ACAP headquarter. The Gurung museum in Gandruk is very popular. The village also offers you the great outstanding mountain views of Gangapurna, Machhapurchhre, Mount Annapurna amongst others.
    After snacks or lunch, we will easy 1-hour walk down to jeep/bus station at kimchee, and 3 hours jeep drive to Pokhara-Kathmandu. or fly back to Kathmandu. Overnight at the Hotel. Or stay there in the hotel in Pokhara.
    Option in Pokhara:
    There are various things you can enjoy in Pokhara. You can feel a wonderful touristic vibe in this valley. You can go for a pleasant stroll around the lakeside or head out for boating in the various lakes in Pokhara. You can also go for a pleasant visit to the various caves like Bat Cave, Mahendra Cave or Gupteshwor Mahadev cave. As well as Tal Barahi Temple and etc.
