Ruby Valley Trek in Ganesh Himal is one of the beautiful newly discovered trekking routes in Nepal. Located in north-central part, it is one of the least explored hidden trekking trails in Nepal. The trail covers the Langtang National Park and Annapurna Conservation Area.
During the trekking journey, you’ll get the majestic view of peaks in the central and western side of Nepal. Amazing peaks include Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, Lakpa Dorje, Himchuli and other peaks of Annapurna, Langtang, and Manaslu region. Besides mountain views, the trek also offers to experience the wonderful culture of the locals Tamang and Gurung people.
The trek starts with the scenic drive from Kathmandu to Gatlang. The trail passes through foothills and beautiful farm terraces to several Tamang villages like Somdang, Tipling, and Dundure. The highest point of the trek is the Pangsang pass at an altitude of 3,850 m. This is one of the finest viewpoints of the trek which offers a breathtaking view of Ganesh, Langtang, and Manaslu Himalayan range.
Likewise, the trekking region sees fewer tourists so don’t have many hotels and teahouses. The only and good option is homestay which is a great way to experience living with the amazing Tamang and Gurung people and enjoy their hospitality.
This short trek is doable throughout the year. However, it is best to trek during the spring, summer, and autumn seasons. During the winters and monsoon, it becomes difficult due to the freezing temperature, strong wind storms, and slippery trails.
The Spring is the best time as the weather is favorable and the views of the snow-clad peaks are stunning. Likewise, the summer is also the perfect time right before the rainfall. Also, Autumn is another perfect season for the Ruby Valley Trek because of stable weather conditions. As the monsoon ends, you can enjoy the clearest views of blue skies and an amazing view of the mountains.
The Ruby Valley Trek is suitable for all type of trekkers with a basic level of fitness. You’ll be walking for 5 to 7 hour per day on steep rocky trail and forest trail as well. So, if you’re physically fit you’ll be more comfortable and your trekking journey will be more enjoyable.
