This short and sweet trek offers you an opportunity to explore a remote and unspoiled area of the Tibetan border of the Langtang region. At the same time, you’ll also experience the most unique culture of the local people from the Tamang community.
Tamang, are one of the ethnic groups of Nepal who are descendants of Tibetans from Kerung united. The daily lifestyle of Tamang people is raising livestock, agriculture, making baskets, and mats from mountain bamboo, and trade with Kerung in Tibet.
This wonderful trek starts from Syabrubesi and continues through the traditional settlement of Gatlang, Thuman, Timure, and Briddim. On the way, you’ll enjoy an amazing view of Langtang Lirung, Langtang Kerung, Ganesh Himal, and other many Langtang Himalayan regions. This trekking route is well-protected by Langtang National Park- the second National Park of Nepal.

The weather is one of the most important factors that you need to consider when deciding to trek the Tamang Heritage Trail Trek. Autumn (September-November) and Spring (March-May) are the best seasons for this trek. During both seasons, the trails are dry and views are clear. There is a very low chance of rainfall.
Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi
Max Altitude: 1,467 meters
Driving Hours: 6-7 hrs
Today you’ll leave Kathmandu early for the seven-hour drive to Syabrubesi along the Trishuli river. On the way, you’ll get a distant view of Mt. Manaslu, Ganesh, and Langtang Peaks. Further, you’ll proceed from Dhunche, the district headquarters of Rasuwa district. Finally, after 7 hours drive, you’ll reach Syabrubesi which is a common starting point of trekking in the Langtang region. You’ll spend a night at Syabrubesi village.
Day 02: Trek from Syabrubesi to Gatlang
After breakfast, you’ll leave Syabrubesi and continue your walk and reach the fantastic viewpoint from where you’ll get the splendid view of Ganesh Himal, Gosainkunda range, and Goljang Valley. Passing through this Tamang valley you’ll get a more interesting insight into Tamang culture and their lifestyle. Finally, after enjoying the beautiful Himalayan scenery, you’ll reach Gatlang village. It is set high on a hillside among the terraced fields. You can explore this beautiful Tamang settlement and visit Tamang Monastery and Parvati-Kunda Lake. You’ll spend a night at Gatlang village.
Day 03: Trek from Gatlang to Tatopani
Today after enjoying your breakfast with fantastic views of the Langtang range and Ganesh Himal you’ll head towards Tatopani from Gatlang. At Tatopani, you can take a hot bath in natural hot springs. It is believed that if you take a dip in this hot natural spring will heal you from your body aches and pains. You’ll spend a night at Tatopani.
Day 04: Trek from Tatopani to Thuman
Today you’ll head toward another interesting village of Thuman. You’ll start your walk and ascend to Nagthali village which is popular as the meditation center for Buddhist devotees and priests. Once again, you’ll get awe-inspiring views of the Langtang range, Ganesh Himal, and Sanjen ranges from Nagthali. Further, you’ll trek down to Thuman, another Tamang village where you’ll see great Tibetan culture influence on Tamang people living here. You can also visit an antique monastery. You’ll spend a night at Thuman village.
Day 05: Trek from Thuman to Rasuwagadhi
Today after breakfast you’ll head towards Rasuwagadhi which is a border part of Nepal and Tibet. You’ll walk downhill and cross the bridge over the Bhote Koshi river. On the way, you’ll visit some ancient Buddhist monasteries. Further, you’ll descend along the river to Timure, an old trade route to Tibet. From Timure, you’ll walk for three hours and reach Rasuwagadhi. You’ll spend a night at Rasuwagadhi.
Day 06: Trek from Rasuwagadhi to Briddim
Today you’ll trek down to the Tamang village at Briddim. The day is quite comfortable as you’ll walk through the flat valley path. Enjoying the village life, you’ll continue your walk through the beautiful dense forest of rhododendron.
After 6 hours of walking, you’ll reach Briddim village. The houses are beautifully made up of stone with split shake roofs. The people are direct descendants of ancient Tibetan immigrants, the culture and tradition closely resemble that of ancient Tibetan villages. You can blend yourself with locals enjoying the homestay and their culture and lifestyle. You’ll spend a night at one of the homestays in Briddim village.
Day 07: Rest and exploring day in Briddim
Today is the rest day in Briddim valley. You can visit nearby hills. The landscape is quite similar to Tibetan Plateau. Once again you’ll enjoy the local culture and traditions of the Tamang people. You’ll see the splendid views of the Langtang mountain range. You’ll spend a night at Birddim village.
Day 08: Trek from Briddim to Syaburbeshi
After having morning breakfast, you’ll start your trek to Syabrubesi via Wangel. The trail gently descends the path passing through villages, terraced fields, and magnificent surrounding green hills. Finally, after 4 hours of walking, you’ll reach Syabrubeshi for an overnight stay.
Day 09: Drive back to Kathmandu from Syabrubeshi by Jeep/ Local bus
Today you’ll return to Kathmandu by local bus or jeep. This scenic drive offers great views of hills, mountains, rice fields, and traditional settlements. Till Betrawati you’ll drive along the rough unpaved road and then you’ll begin to follow the narrow but well-paved road. Once you reach Kathmandu, you can refresh and take some rest. In the evening, you can stroll around Thamel and buy some souvenirs for your closed one. Overnight stay at your hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 10: Final Departure
Today is your last day in Kathmandu. After breakfast, our representative will drop you at the International Airport three hours before your scheduled flight back home. We wish you a safe journey and hope to see you again soon!
